Lemondog back from Montana
« on: November 18, 2008, 09:36:31 PM »
Just got back from our first Montana hunt. It was a blast. Did a lot of research and found land we could hunt. By getting 1 to 3 miles off the road we found good bucks and no other hunters! All 5 of us saw better bucks than we took but either passed early on, missed the shot or they were seen after being tagged out. Wouldn't you know it, on the first morning I saw a 160+ class 4X5 working on a doe. Had to pass the shot as I came to hunt! On day five I took this fellow. Spotted him at daylight at 800 yards and made a 1/2 mile roundabout stalk. Had one small pine for cover the last 15 yards. Dumped him at 203 yards while my pal Chris watched Thur the spotting scope! It was great fun and hope to do it again soon!

congrats on a great looking buck.

Don't fall into the trap. Hunting is-and always will be- about the hunt, the adventure, the views, and time spent with close friends and family. " Ryan Hatfield

Nice buck!  Also look at it this way, now you know the area, know the size of bucks in the area, and make set your goals for next year from there.  Congrats.  Hunting is a 24/7 learning experience!
